Aversion-Free Dog Training & Behaviour Modification

My name is Martin, a graduate from FIC (Ecole de Formation des Intervenants Canins du Quebec , Duke University’s “Canine Cognition & Emotion” certificate and holder of the CPDT-KA certification. The benefits of behavior modification through a science-based, positive-reinforcement approach is what inspired me to undertake this career path as I saw good results while increasing the bond with the dogs. Having worked with local and international rescues, I made it my mission to prevent dogs being left behind due to problematic behaviours. My toolkit includes positive reinforcement techniques, behavioural assessments, in-home therapy plans, rehabilitation and stress/anxiety abatement. I have worked with many cases from 1st time puppy-owners seeking advice, basic obedience and general manners to severe reactivity and anxiety. Their well-being and relationship with you are my priority and I strive to provide a service I would want my own dog to receive. I am also aware of the importance of teaching YOU how to communicate with your dog. I want to teach you how to be a good LEADER, not a ‘’boss’’ to your dog.

Private In-Home Sessions

One-on-one sessions in the comfort of your home or location of choice. Being in your dog’s environment enables me to understand certain dynamics and show you how to apply recommendations. Wether you want to teach your dog basic obedience, curb undesirable behaviours or lower fear and/or reactivity, get in touch and let’s schedule a session. You and your dog will be glad you did!

Price: $120/hr +tx

Leash Reactivity Group Classes (Outdoors, Summertime)

Pulling on leash, excessive barking and lunging on walks are a few symptoms of leash reactivity and they can be both annoying and dangerous for dog owners! Leash Reactivity Group Classes use powerful tools to encourage your dog to be calmer and focus on YOU during outings resulting in safer, more enjoyable walks.

*This is a six hour course (1 hr/week) limited to four dogs per group.

Price: $200 +tx

What is positive reinforcement and what issues are addressed?

The technique focuses on rewarding the desirable behaviours as opposed to focusing on correcting the bad ones. Behaviours addressed range from house-training, obedience, leash or other reactivity, resource guarding and fear/stress/anxiety issues. These techniques are scientifically proven effective and will boost your dog’s confidence and strengthen the bond between you as they are reward-based and non-aversive.

Do you travel?

Yes! My services are offered in-home or in a location of your choice. Meeting your dog in his/her environment is crucial as I might have recommendations to make such as restricting areas, placement of food, bed, etc.

What areas do you serve?

The greater Montreal region.

Are you certified and why is this important?

I am CPDT-KA certified by the CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers). This means meeting criteria, passing a rigorous exam and undergoing yearly continuing education ensuring that my techniques are in line with the latest research and studies. The CCPDT is recognized world-wide and requires all certificants, staff, and board members to adhere to a strict ethical code.
